Kahne had No Reason to Apologize

Once again in our politically correct world a sports star has to apologize after an exchange on Twitter. Yes Kasey Kahne shouldn’t have lashed out with a twitter response to an ignorant comment from an anonymous twitterer, but having his sponsors apologize for his opinion on breast feeding in public was absurd! Have we gone so far off the politically correct ledge that any comment from anyone on any subject that has its own rooting section needs to be instantly apologized for? Kasey Kahne had no reason to apologize for having an opinion.
Getting You Abreast of the Situation
In case you have been in a NASCAR holiday coma I will recap the breast story. Kasey Kahne was in a grocery store and witnessed a woman openly breast feeding her baby. Kahne tweeted, “Just walking though supermarket. See a mom breast feeding little kid. Took second look because obviously I was seeing things. I wasn’t!” This caused a bit of an uproar on Twitter with one person calling him a “Douche Bag.” Kahne returned fire calling the lady on Twitter a “Dumb Bitch.” This story got picked up by ESPN and all of the major news organizations and quickly Kasey Kahne issued an apology.
“In all honestly, I was surprised by what I saw in a grocery store,” Kahne said in his apology. “I shared that reaction with my fans on Twitter. It obviously wasn’t the correct approach, and, after reading your feedback, I now have a better understanding of why my posts upset some of you.
“My comments were not directed at the mother’s right to breastfeed. They were just a reaction to the location of that choice, and the fashion in which it was executed on that occasion. I respect the mother’s right to feed her child whenever and wherever she pleases.”
No Need to Apologize
Maybe Kasey Kahne needed to apologize for lashing out after being called a derogatory name. It would have been wiser for him to just walk away but how many in the media that criticized his response have been guilty of nasty responses to messages themselves? Kasey Kahne apologized to the lady on Twitter and that was certainly enough. Isn’t it ok to make a comment about something in this day and age without it turning into a huge media circus? I would also be irritated by a woman not being discrete when she is trying to breast feed her kid in public! I would also be irritated to see that same woman changing a diaper right out in open in a restaurant or grocery store. (And I have seen that before too!)
Some in the NASCAR media need to apologize to Kasey Kahne for how they characterized his interaction on Twitter too. ESPN’s article said he called the lady on Twitter a “Dumb Bitch” after she disagreed with his comments. No where in there article does it show what she said to him! If someone walks up to you and calls you a derogatory name don’t you respond in kind before you think it through? Twitter works the same way with things being blurted out without thinking it through sometimes. Fox Sports was even worse saying that Kasey Kahne’s “Dumb Bitch” comment came as a result of the lady saying to him, “I hope someday you have a kid and someone tells your wife that feeding your child looks nasty.” No where in that article does it mention that she called him a “Douche Bag” and even makes it appear that Kasey Kahne fired the first nasty comment. (Order of comments confirmed via the lady that got into the argument with Kasey Kahne)
Boycott Breasts
The absurdity of this whole event got my head spinning today. Kasey Kahne was wrong for calling anyone a “Dumb Bitch” but once you put the whole thing in the correct context it suddenly doesn’t look quite as mean spirited. Kasey Kahne also was quick to apologize to the lady he lashed back at on Twitter and she also apologized to him. In this day and age when anyone says something the least bit askew from the Politically Correct Playbook there are instant calls to boycott their sponsors! The hell with it I am going to get on the bandwagon myself and I am going to boycott breasts until they apologize to Kasey Kahne. Kasey Kahne had no reason to apologize for thinking that those breast feeding in public should have some consideration of others.

Kane is a young man and when he gets old and grey like me he’ll cherrish the thought of seeing breasts anyway he can!! Big deal not like he has seen worse at the track,,,
So Kahne expressed his displeasure upon seeing a woman breast feeding in a grocery store….and the tweet world turned upside down?!?! Ha! Shame on NASCAR media for picking up the ball and running with it..I bet a great deal of the media would have been uncomfortable at the sight too and it’s a shame they hid behind their column just to have an article for the day! I’ll be honest..I’m a 3 time past breast feeder and to do it in a grocery store was not something I ever would have done! There are so many other choices the woman could have chosen (restroom, car, breast milk bottle) .. I am amazed the store didn’t get numerous complaints! I understand Kahnes discomfort and wonder why society deems it ok to keep pushing “our rights” into the space of others … I would venture to say this breast feeding mom deserves no apologies from Kahne … Just a lesson in common courtesy!
@Lydia, I agree 100% with you! Kahne did nothing wrong, he voiced his opinion & he has the right. I don’t understand why she didn’t take a bottle with her either. I mean come on, she is exposing herself in public & he was shocked. What’s the big deal. How do you explain something like this to child? How many innocent children were subjected to this as well? She had no class & neither did the woman that attacked him verbally! Just sayin..
For the record Kahne has not mentioned this since, but these women & their followers continue to bash Kahne. That is wrong! Let it go & cover up!
The only group left that you can freely bash are white males, and especially southern ones. I am so sick of this crap, and I’m neither male, nor southern, but I just became a Kasey Kahne fan.
I’m tired of this political correctness baloney. So Busch yelled on the radio and was impatient waiting for the tv crew to get their act together. Didn’t Stewart commit a felony for attacking that Australian promoter? Nascar is a joke.
In the first race he is in at Daytona, Every woman should lift their shirts and give him a rousing salute.
Kasey needs those LADIES from the ALLSTATE COMMERCIALS chasing him again , they sort of suggested a few of them wanted to show him more than just breasts
On a serious note , when a person feels he needs to “TWITTER” his folloers ( TWITS ) every move , thought , action then get ready for a BACK LASH.
i agree kasey didnt need to say he was sorry for his comments-where was the store manager for allowing that to happen-the “lady” should at least have gone to a rest room for the “dastardly deed”-i will be at the daytona 500 and will head for the kasey kahne souvenier trailer hoping to find a hat with kaseys car number on one side and picture of a breast on the other-that hat maker would be sold out almost as soon as they hit the shelve-
go kasey!!
Poor choice of words on Kahnes part, actually she is a dumb cow, dumb ass or just plain dumb. As a father I understand that breast feeding is a necessity but when did it become normal or correct to just whip it out in public and commence feeding? If she has nothing in the dignity department and absolutely nothing in the consideration for others department it does not mean that her actions are acceptable. In fact, just for the sake of argument lets say that I want to help someone less fortunate conceive a child and I am at a fertility clinic to donate semen, I am in the reception area and I complete the paperwork and I figure hey, no time like the present and I commence “donating a sample”. Now before you call me a pervert and possibly a dumb or insensitive weirdo consider that this is a natural biological function, you know, like breast feeding, that natural and beautiful act BETWEEN a mother and her child, uh huh. I could name a few other natural biological functions that if done in public will get you tossed in jail and some of them will get you on the sex offender registry for life and those are the nice functions, suffice to say we won’t get into the nastier ones.Anyhoo, I say much ado about nothing and from a regular hetro mans perspective all breast are Not created equal and a surprising percentage of breasts should never, never, ever see the light of day, perhaps these were of that variety. Just a thought for those incapable of forming one on their own, are you listening grocery store breast feeder ladies ? P.S. I need to ask Kasey if Ms. Modesty was at least in the dairy aisle when the irresistible, life or death urge to breast feed in public struck her ?
