NASCAR Needs to Add a Little Gator

4/29/08: SOZ Studios, MI - By Dennis Michelsen "DMIC" (RaceTalkRadio.com)

There are hundreds of talented drivers that never get the chance to compete at the NASCAR level. Today I want to introduce you to a young driver that deserves a shot at chasing his NASCAR dreams. Justin Allgaier is one of the most exciting drivers in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. But unlike some of the other drivers that have had success in ARCA, Justin "Little Gator" Allgaier has yet to have gotten a real shot at NASCAR racing. NASCAR needs to add a "Little Gator" to their driver roster.

Meet Justin Allgaier

Just twenty-one years old, Springfield, IL's Justin Allgaier comes from a racing family. The Little Gator started on the dirt and became the youngest driver to ever qualify for the main event at the famous Chili Bowl down in Tulsa, OK at just fourteen years young in 2001. Allgaier is competing in his third full season in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and was fourth in points last season. The Little Gator works on his own cars and is one of the class acts of ARCA on and off the track.

Best Season Ever in ARCA

This year Justin Allgaier's team decided to upgrade their equipment and make a serious run at the ARCA RE/MAX series title. Justin came out of the box strong at Daytona and with former Hall of Fame Racing equipment on the speedways the Little Gator has the best equipment he has ever had to work with in ARCA. Three straight top two finishes had him in the points' lead until engine woes at Kansas Speedway dropped him to third this week. This promises to be one of the best battles for the ARCA championship and Allgaier will be in the thick of the battle all season!

Meet Justin and the Rest of ARCA Nation

Each and every Tuesday at 8pm ET our radio show "ARCA Thunder" with host Mike Harper introduce race fans to tomorrow's NASCAR stars today. Last year Mike interviewed drivers such as Phillip McGilton, Justin Marks, Michael McDowell, and others that are now NASCAR regulars. While Justin Allgaier has raced in seven Craftsman Truck races with Mike Mittler, the Little Gator has yet to get a shot in quality NASCAR equipment.

Give Gator a Chance

Justin deserves a shot at a good Craftsman Truck ride but lacks the big money sponsor that teams are looking for in this day and age. It will be impossible for his family owned team to move Justin's career past the ARCA level without help. After spending many weeks at ARCA races last season I got a chance to learn more about the young drivers making ARCA races exciting. One of the hardest working and most talented is Justin Allgaier. Hopefully the Little Gator will get a shot in good NASCAR equipment soon.

Editor's Note: For more ARCA coverage tune into "ARCA Thunder" with Mike Harper every Tuesday night at 8pm ET. This week RaceTalkRadio features in depth coverage at Rockingham Speedway with special shows Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in addition to our usual Tuesday show.
