Junior Fans Overload Suicide Hotline

Two years to the track and it looked like Junior was going to break through for that elusive win. Junior Nation was on their collective feet and about to breath a sigh of relief when that diabolical do-badder Kyle Busch got Rowdy ending Junior's chance at the win. All of a sudden four million Junior fans rose as one not to celebrate the expected win, but rather to dial the suicide hotline! Phone lines melted in the frenzy! Coming oh so close to winning for the first time in over seventy races the strain finally showed on Junior's face in the post race interviews. "Suicide hotline how may we help you?" Is there a twelve-step program for ending this Junior addiction? Surely this can't be healthy for us? (Oh stop it right now and stop calling me Shirley!) The Virginia National Guard was called in to protect Kyle Busch on his departure from the track! Junior's beard almost looked like it had a little gray in it after the stress of the night's race. "How could this happen again," screamed Junior Nation. The saddest part is that drinking Amp only causes more anxiety! Perhaps the only consolation is that the new Kyle Busch dartboards have arrived at Whiskey River! It used to be easier being an Earnhardt fan back in the day. Junior fans relax and stop overloading the suicide hotline…that win will come real soon!
Richmond to Rockingham
It sure would be nice to get a count of how many fans headed from Richmond after two nights of great racing to Rockingham for a memorable return to racing at the Rock! Have you ever seen fifty cars come off of turn four and take the green flag? If you missed the spectacle that was the Carolina 500 click on the LISTEN LIVE button on the main page of RaceTalkRadio.com. I had the pleasure of calling the race with a lot of help from my friends Chris Knight, Lori Munro, and of course the lead crazy at ARCA Thunder Mike Harper. If you missed the race on SPEED or RaceTalkRadio you can get a little feel for what it looks like for fifty cars to take the green at the Rock. Breathtaking? Exhilarating? Unbelievable? They say a picture is worth a thousand words so go over to the PHOTO section and check out the view from our perch in the old MRN radio booth. Racing is back at Rockingham and the old track never looked better. Take a minute to call or write the good folks at Rockingham Speedway and thank Andy Hillenburg and the gang for saving this racing treasure! Maybe this date can be the key with lots of NASCAR fans doing a triple-header of racing from Richmond to Rockingham!
R-E-S-P-E-C-T Smoke and Yoc Style
This lack of respect for those guys just struggling to make it from race to race has got to stop! In the ARCA RE/MAX Series that means guys like Brad Smith and Darrel Basham. That means guys like Morgan Shepherd in the Nationwide Series and groups like BAM Racing on the Cup side. Every time I hear them called FIELD FILLERS I want to smack someone. If you are lucky enough to walk through the infield at the track and see
 how hard these guys work you might gain a new respect for them! No one works harder to chase their racing dreams and these guys deserve our respect. This week Morgan Shepherd received the kind of respect that should make us all take notice of what he is trying to do. Tony Stewart and Matt Yocum bought tires for Morgan Shepherd so he could afford to race all night at Richmond! When a guy like Smoke is on your side maybe there will be a new respect for the effort of these guys at the other end of the garage. While the big teams can afford to waste everything, the true warriors of the racing world do more with less just to be part of the show! They deserve our respect!FYI…ARCA driver Darrell Basham is also running for President! (OK so its just me pushing this nutty idea but…) Catch DB on TV at the link below.
