Junior Fans Ready for Richmond Riot - Making the Grade Richmond
How fitting it would have been for Junior's winless drought to come full circle and end at the last track he won at in the Cup series! But somewhere from wonderful script to reality Kyle Busch got rowdy and edited the story a bit. Junior fans might be irritated by the end of the race but had to be happy their guy was so strong on a night one of his Hendrick teammates struggled badly and the other two got wrecked. When Junior and Kyle Busch made contact, you could feel the crowd ready to riot! Richmond is strong Junior Nation territory and Kyle Busch had to feel like General Custer at the Little Big Horn. Even worse for Kyle Busch is that the first call to restore order went out to the National Guard!
Race Grade A+
WOW! OK race fans find something to complain about this race! The Crown Royal Presents the Dan Lowry 400 was one of the best races from start to finish we have seen this year. Plot twists and turns that would make the scriptwriters at one of Fox's Televisions reality shows blush were the norm. We had a unlikely hero win and a villain for fans to boo. Saturday night is made for fighting and we almost got a donnybrook!
F for Patrick Carpentier's Bad Luck
Carpentier earned a new nickname the hard way on Saturday night! Just call this guy tilt-a-whirl after his vicious crash! How many more times can one car be hit? Patrick picked the wrong time and place to crash!
D for Kurt Busch
What in the heck has happened to this team? This is a track where has won but his team was off all weekend! Qualifying twenty-first and not getting much better in the race is a disgrace for a team that used to own this place! (In the Rusty days) The crash finally put Kurt Busch out of his misery on Saturday!
C for Jeff Gordon
Jeff Gordon's mid-term grade at Richmond on Saturday night was an F-Plus! A four-time champion should not be petting the Lucky Dog as often as Gordon has this season! Once the mayhem of typical Richmond racing ensued Jeff showed why he has won so many races and titles as he raced his way back to an unlikely top ten.
B for Mark Martin
Hey this Martin guy can drive! The Salute to Part Time Work Tour continued at Richmond International Raceway on Saturday night with another typical Mark Martin performance. Hanging out in the top ten all night Martin still seemed to sneak up on the competition at the end and almost stole the win!
A for Clint Bowyer
Saturday night is a classic example to racers at all levels that you never give up until the checkered flag flies! Bowyer was on his way to another typically quiet top five performance until strange circumstances handed him a shot for the win. Is Clint Bowyer this generation's answer to Mark Martin?
