Kyle Has Best Start to Season Ever - Making the Grade Dover
No driver has put on a first four months of the season in NASCAR history! Other drivers have been able to dominate in the Cup series or the Nationwide series or the Craftsman Truck series but never all three in one year! That doesn't make Kyle Busch the best of all time, but his start to the season tops any I can remember. If you are sitting there snickering and suggesting it is because of the equipment you are selling Kyle short. He has won with five different teams already! Love him or hate him you can't deny he is having a dream season that has been a nightmare for all those people that love to hate him! Kyle Busch has the best start to a season in NASCAR history!
Race Grade B
This was a very strange race by Dover standards and gets knocked down a grade as a result. After an early wreck that seemed to never end only four more cautions came out without another major wreck on a track known for Big Ones! Three cars dominated this race and that allowed the field to get all strung out. Two green flag pit sequences to end the race sure helped whittle down the number of cars on the lead lap too.
F for Denny Hamlin
Stopping these new cars is tough to say the least but did Denny even touch the brakes? After what seemed an eternity the No. 11 car piled into the mess and ended the day for Hamlin. Was this grade earned for bad luck or bad driving or both? Any way you slice it Denny's day earned a poor grade!
D for Elliott Sadler
Sadler fans will be screaming that Gilliland caused the wreck but Elliott seems to be in the middle of more than his fair share of incidents lately. In racing when that happens you have to point the finger at the guy with the messed up car for getting himself into potential trouble way too often!
C for Sam Hornish Jr
This has certainly been an up and down season for Sam Hornish Jr with far more downs than ups to this point! Eighteenth place was the third best finish for Hornish in the Cup series this year. If the pace doesn't pick up soon, perhaps that Penske Truck will back up to Sam's place and take his stuff back to Defiance!
B for Jeff Gordon
Last season Jeff Gordon put together one of the most consistent seasons in NASCAR history and failed to win the championship. This year the Dupont team has had to fight even harder just to stay on the lead lap. But wouldn't it be ironic if they suddenly catch fire in the Chase and win the title on an off year?
A for Kyle Busch
What is the best compliment anyone can give this kid? All over the country whenever a young driver is racing the wheels off of their car people are starting to say, "Wow that kid might be the next Kyle Busch!" You might as well start booing me or telling me I am crocked, but this IS the best start to a season in modern NASCAR history! At Dover it was a team effort even more than usual with two great pit stops putting him out front.
