Carnac Looks at Silly Season

If you read JAYSKI religiously you know there are at least twenty or thirty combinations of how the next wave of driver changes will play out. Since it is hard for the average fan to separate the wheat from the chafe in the world of Silly Season I decided to contact a real expert on the subject. No I did not call up a bunch of NASCAR beat writers or broadcasters that say they have the low down on where everyone is going. Instead we present an exclusive interview with Carnac the Magnificent for his take on Silly Season.

RTR Q: What have you been doing since Johnny Carson retired?

Carnac: I have been spending a lot of time on Funk and Wagnalls' porch…where else?

RTR Q: But what makes you an expert on Silly Season predictions?

Carnac: Are you questioning the knowledge of the great Carnac?

RTR Q: Not at all sir, I would not like to have a love-starved fruit-fly molest my sister's nectarines!

Carnac: I will handle the comedy around here.

RTR Q: My apologies, but what inside info do you bring to the fans?

Carnac: I am Carnac the Magnificent! Isn't that enough?

The interview quickly went downhill from there but Carnac the Magnificent did give us his Silly Season predictions for 2009. Enjoy!

Carnac Says…

Will shut down

07- No changes to that slick Black Jack look

1- Scott Riggs becomes the new driver and not even Carnac can predict sponsor

2- No changes but Kurt drinking more of his sponsor product every time people call him Kyle's older and less talented brother

5- Already announced that Mark Martin will drive. Salute to You Tours now out number Rocky sequels

6- David Ragan gets a new sponsor with one or more of the Nationwide sponsors for Roush-Fenway moving up to Cup

7- No changes with car showing up naked every week and leaving with full sponsor decals after every race

8- Aric Almirola is the driver but will be scrambling for sponsors

9- No changes but Kasey Kahne learns to speak Flemish

10-No changes but team will run better

11-No changes expected but Fed Ex Outer Space is rumored to be added

12- David Stremme will switch from test driver to full time driver

15- Forget the Yates rumors unless Teresa sells DEI

16- Greg Biffle has resigned and added Four Leaf Clover Breweries as an associate sponsor for next season

17- No changes but rumors of Matt Kenseth's departure from Roush-Fenway will start during Daytona testing in January

18- No changes expected for the 2008 Champion

19- No changes for the master of disguise

20- Joey Logano will drive and Home Depot will extend contract and start selling toaster ovens!

21- Sadly next team to go the way of the dinosaurs

22- Dave Blaney returns but team on the edge of extinction unless a sponsor is found

23- Forget the rumors because the team will come to senses and keep Michael Annett in trucks and Bill Davis Racing will only have one Cup team

26- Jamie McMurray and current sponsors will return for one more year

28- Travis Kvapil returns and team continues the elusive sponsor search

29- No changes except I hope they change the Ronald McDonald uniform

31-Jeff Burton gets Caterpillar as sponsor and folks at Peoria HQ will be shocked that their Ward Burton decoder rings are not needed with Jeff

33- Casey Mears signs as driver and rumors of being replaced by Matt Kenseth in 2010 will begin by Bristol

38- Three season tour ends for Gilliland and Colin Braun is promoted to Cup to take over the ride and add to the Roush-Fenway is in control rumors

41- Reed Sorenson will be replaced by Scott Speed and team will align itself with Red Bull Racing and switch to Toyota

42-Juan Pablo will give up NASCAR for a singing career and sing a duet with Jacques Villeneuve

43-Bobby Labonte with National Enquirer as sponsor

44-Josh Wise will be promoted to replace Reutimann

45- David Reutimann replaces Kyle Petty

47- Marcos Ambrose an exciting rookie with new JTG team

48- No changes except for addition of Voodoo doll sponsorship (Doll sure looks a lot like Kyle Busch)

55-Gains an ex-wife and wonders where new sponsors will come from for 2009

66-Becomes the No. 14 with driver Tony Stewart and sponsor Office Depot and Old Spice stink sauce

70- Becomes the No. 4 with driver Ryan Newman and sponsor UPS delivers Matt Borland as his Crew Chief

77- Same Hornish Jr will return to Indy Racing and Michael McDowell drives

78-Is this team still in Cup?

83-No changes except being a contender every week

84-AJ Allmendinger's Cup career safe for another year

88-Junior tattoos safe for another season

96- JJ Yeley will be replaced by Reed Sorenson

97- Brad Coleman drives second team for Hall of Fame

99-Cue the duck all season (Sure miss you BP)

??- Martin Truex Jr drives a third car for Stewart-Haas with Bass Pro Shops
