Hall of Shame Racing - Wednesday Whining
Just a few weeks ago JJ Yeley was given his release and development driver Brad Coleman was brought onboard at the No. 96 team. Brad Coleman announced that the team had decided to get him as much seat time as possible this year so he would be better prepared for his first full season in 2009. Now just a few weeks later and the team sounds like they are still shopping for a driver for next season! Hall of Fame Racing hardly has the credentials to be picky about hiring a driver. They are outside of the top thirty-five in owner's points and has a grand total of one top ten (3rd place) when they got lucky on fuel mileage and rain at New Hampshire Motor Speedway! How pathetic has this season been for this team? Take away the 3rd place finish and their next best race was a 24th place finish! They call this a satellite team of Joe Gibbs Racing but they are doing their best imitation of Skylab! Four different drivers have now amassed an amazing 30.2 average finish with Toyota equipment. Ken Schrader managed to ride this mule of a car to a 7th place starting spot at Bristol only to fade backwards through the field all night. Now for some reason they are putting Jeremy Mayfield in the seat. Why does such good sponsorship support such a lousy team? Hall of Shame Racing is more likely to fold their team before the end of 2009 rather than score a top ten finish!
See what the QUICK CHANGE panel thinks about this situation tonight at 8pm eastern exclusively on RaceTalkRadio!
Wednesday Wonderful-It's Still Bristol Baby
They say the squeaky wheel gets the grease and this week we heard a lot of squeaky wheels bitching about Bristol! The racing at Bristol Motor Speedway is better than ever with the new progressive banking. Yes it is tough to pass but isn't that the idea in racing to give drivers more than one lane to race on? The Car of Tomorrow put on its first great race at Bristol this week and the Craftsman Truck race on Wednesday night as the greatest NASCAR race of the decade! When was the last time we got three great races in one weekend? The geniuses in management at Bristol took a huge gamble and it has paid off! 168,000 fans packed Bristol on Saturday night. Management came up with the greatest idea for the National Anthem every August with the kids of the drivers singing. The race is more than a race at BMS with the pre-race festivities entertaining each year! But the new progressive pavement makes the show we see on the race track the best short track racing in the world. Now a driver doesn't have to JUST slam someone out of the way, but since boys will be boys, that is still the easiest way to make the pass! Bristol Motor Speedway is better than ever with the new pavement and those who are bitching and moaning should go to their county fair and get a ticket for the demolition derby! It's Bristol Baby…the best racing you will ever see!
