Will DEI Now be D-E-A-D - Wednesday Whining

10/1/08: SOZ Studios, MI - By Dennis Michelsen "DMIC" (RaceTalkRadio.com)

There was a time just a few years ago that it appeared that Dale Earnhardt Incorporated would become one of the elite teams in the sport. But suddenly the wheels started to fall off culminating in the departure of Dale Earnhardt Jr to Hendrick Motorsports. The only quality driver left at DEI is Martin Truex Jr and he has only been able to post only three top five finishes. Truex Jr is only signed on through 2009 and he will be a hot commodity if he decides to leave. Paul Menard and his Menards sponsorship are leaving for Yates Racing next season. The US Army sponsorship is headed to Stewart-Haas Racing for next season too. When Dale Earnhardt Jr left Darrel Waltrip said that without Junior DEI was going to be a museum. It appears they are much closer to being a museum than a viable race team going into 2009! A lean year next season and Bass Pro Shops is likely to leave and that would put DEI closer to D-E-A-D!

Wednesday Wonderful-Bonzai Carl
Carl Edwards let it all hang out to win at Kansas and I was amazed! Nowadays all you hear about is about great points days. But Carl didn't care about points all he wanted was the win. He was hoping to gain the trophy and ten more points but could have easily lost more than sixty points in the title Chase! He even knew it was likely he would have to bounce off the wall to win and he went for it. No wonder this guy can't get on a commercial flight the clanking hardware would never get through security! Give me more of those kinds of moves going for the win or wrecking please! That was real racing at its best and we only have three guys with the guts to go for the win like that. Joining Mr. Edwards on that exclusive list are Greg Biffle and Kyle Busch. NASCAR racing is great but could you imagine if we had 43 of those guys that want to win at all costs? No matter the track they would race on the competition would be fierce! Way to go Mister Carl Edwards, give us more of that kind of racing!
