Time to Exhale - Making the Grade Dega 2
That sound you heard after the checkered flag fell at Talladega, Alabama on Sunday afternoon was the entire world finally exhaling! Racing at Dega isn't so much real racing as it is a show. But these races are always highlight reel material if you can put up with the gasps when crashes like Denny Hamlin's happen. This will be a tough act to follow for the rest of the season with so many different leaders and lead changes! Thank goodness it is time to exhale though I was starting to look like Papa Smurf!
Race Grade: A+
Thank GOD nobody got killed! That was one crazy spectacle at Talladega on Sunday afternoon and if you weren't thoroughly entertained you are either not a race fan or a Junior fan! The twists and turns of the plot would have been turned down by Hollywood as being too unbelievable to bring to the Silver Screen!
F for Brian Vickers' Luck
This has been a season of ups and downs for Brian Vickers. At one point it looked like he might make the Chase for the Championship with his vastly improved Red Bull Racing Team. But then the bad luck bug hit Vickers and his team hard! Blowing a tire is one thing but doing it in front of the field and being a pin ball as a result is bad luck indeed!
D for Carl Edwards
What the heck was he thinking? Carl Edwards turned into a one man Roush Wrecking Crew on Sunday when he bump drafted Greg Biffle in the corner. As the smoke puffed in the air three of the five Roush cars ended their competitive days!
C for Terry Labonte
He might not LOOK like the Texas Terry of old but he proved he still has something left in the tank! If he can pilot that car to a lead lap 17th place finish just imagine what he could do with a real car.
B for DEI
Old Man Dale is looking down today and smiling that wicked grin at how well his old team did on Sunday. Regan Smith had a shot at the win and got the raw end of the call on going below the line. Paul Menard actually looked like a real race car driver!
A for Tony Stewart
It sure took a long time for Tony Stewart to make it to Victory Lane! Since there was a 43 race span between wins Smoke had lots of time to think about that victory speech. Honoring the great Alabama Gang drivers of the past was a classy move!
