Truck Racing is the Best Racing in the World

When NASCAR first announced the start of the Craftsman Truck Series many years ago I was somewhat skeptical. The idea seemed like one of those crazy ideas that would not go very far. But ever since those trucks started beating and banging on the short tracks of the USA I have been hooked! Many changes have taken place over the years and some of the big name Cup teams have left the series. But the racing has never been better and the personalities in the series are also amazing! The Craftsman (Camping World) Truck Series is simply THE best racing in the world!

Name a Boring Race

When I think of any racing series on the planet I can also think of a race that was just not that exciting. That is unless that racing series is the NASCAR Craftsman (Camping World) Truck Series! I challenge you to name one boring race in the history of the series. Maybe one exists but my brain only remembers the amazing races I have seen over the years! Perhaps it is the short length of the races. Maybe it is the group of drivers that put winning above points racing. Whatever the reason NASCAR has a great formula with the Camping World Truck Series and this is the most under appreciated racing series in the world!

Get to Know These Guys Better

NASCAR racing is driven by personalities! Ask 100 Cup fans that don't watch the truck series why and 95% say it's because their favorite driver doesn't run in the truck series and they don't know those drivers as well. If you find yourself in that group you will quickly learn that the driver colony in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is second to none in personality! But you won't see NASCAR or the networks bragging about these guys. Speed Channel provides great coverage of the races but in addition I am going to give you two great places to get more information. Every Thursday night on RaceTalkRadio tune into the "Cargo Light Review" for interviews with the leading drivers with host Lori Munro. After checking that show out you can surf over to TruckSeries.com for additional coverage. Take the time to learn more about the drivers in the truck series and you will be hooked!

Turn Back the Clock

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is as close to old-fashioned racing as we can find in this day and age. These guys want to win! Both Johnny Benson and Ron Hornaday took huge chances to win races during their title battle. They weren't out there stroking laps for points they wanted to get to Victory Lane! Second place is the first loser to these guys just the way it used to be in all NASCAR racing back in the day. Only one time in the history of the series did the point's race get settled before the last race of the year! We have often seen three drivers or more with a chance to win the title going down to the closing laps of the season. Bumping and grinding for each position on the track and shorter races gives the fans their money's worth in great racing every week!

Conclusion

Thank you Craftsman for nurturing the truck series and letting it grow to where it is today! Now Camping World takes the baton and will continue the tradition and grow the series even more. You won't see the second place guy complaining about being aero-tight and unable to catch the leader! Nobody ever settles for second place! Speed Channel and play-by-play announcer Rick Allen gives the series a great voice on the broadcasts along with a great supporting cast! The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series isn't JUST the best racing in NASCAR; it's the best racing on the planet!
