Hello Hoosier Do You Have Any Tires?
This news just in…the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company has hired "Baghdad Bob" to handle their PR. Ok so that is not true but I figured I must have missed that announcement when Goodyear made a statement after the Kobalt Tools 500 that they had no tire issues at all this weekend. Is that so? Grab Jack Roush's lie-detector unit and ask any driver in yesterday's race! Race winner Kyle Busch said that was the hardest he had worked in a racecar. Rowdy leads the points in both the Sprint Cup and Craftsman Truck series after Atlanta. Runner up Tony Stewart said, "That was the most pathetic tire I have ever seen. I am going home and anything that has Goodyears I will take those off and put Firestones on instead." Dale Earnhardt Jr rarely speaks out against Goodyear but even Junior was outspoken after the race! "That was interesting out there today. I'm glad its over," said Earnhardt Jr. "This tire and this track is a bad combination." Tony Stewart's comments you heard on television were just the tip of the iceberg, he continued in the media center afterwards. "Been racing 28 years and I've never seen the quality of racing tire like I've seen this weekend," said a frustrated Tony Stewart. "I can't say its surprising because they got run out of Formula One, they got run out of CART, the IRL, they got run out of World of Outlaw Sprints, they got run out of USAC's divisions because they couldn't keep up and couldn't make a quality enough product." This is not the first time we have had complaints from the drivers or issues with the tires. It does seem like this crazy pattern is getting worse in recent years. Yes Goodyear is dealing with a new car but shouldn't they have been doing thousands of miles of testing just like the teams? "They have no reason to have to push and make their product better because they have no competition," exclaimed Tony Stewart. Maybe that is the real fix to this whole issue to open up the tire deal and let manufacturers make the best tire for the tracks! Tire communism is the problem. When the manufacturer has their head in the sand and says there were no tire issues at a race where almost all of the drivers were unhappy it is a sign that change is needed! There are two ways that a tire can be defective. Obviously the worst failure is a tire that blows out. But a tire that refuses to grip isn't that much better! Check out the entire media center interviews with the top three drivers in the Kobalt Tools 500 as heard live on RaceTalkRadio Sunday evening.

Two Lucky Dogs for Jimmie Johnson saved his day
Five of last year's Chase drivers on the outside looking in so far
Entire rookie class outside of the top 35 after four races
Toyota first foreign car to win since Jaguar won in 1954
7 Green Flag Passes for the Lead in the Kobalt Tools 500
Nationwide is On Your Side
When qualifying at Atlanta is snowed out you know this is going to be a weird weekend! Kyle Busch was about to get black flagged for "Performance detrimental to NASCAR-stinking up the show" when a mechanical failure caused him to hit the wall. That turned the race into a three-man battle between Matt Kenseth, Jeff Burton, and Kevin Harvick. Kenseth would hold off a hard charging Harvick to get his first win of the season. The best Nationwide-only driver was Brad Keselowski in sixth place. Seven of the top ten spots went to Claim Jumpers. The top seven in the Nationwide Series points after four races are Cup drivers. At the very least NASCAR needs to invert the starting order and put the Cup guys in the back! Perhaps tweaking the provisional rules or purse structure to reward teams that put a Nationwide only driver in the seat is even better.
Keep on Truckin'

Love him or hate him Kyle Busch is the most entertaining driver in NASCAR right now! Fans that remember him back in the day all bring up the name Tim Richmond when describing Kyle Busch. "Rowdy" appears to be more at peace with his new ride and that more than anything else might be the reason he has gone from a "Wild Child" to a great racer! Many race fans have vision problems when it comes to watching drivers on the track. If you love the guy he can do no wrong but if you dislike him for whatever reason he can't do anything right! On Friday night Kyle Busch used every inch of the racetrack and maybe some of the backstretch grandstand to race to the front to win the American Commercial Lines 200. In fact there is an unconfirmed report that he picked up a bag of popcorn, a soda, and a hot chocolate while making several passes in the grandstand! Kyle Busch leads the points after three races but does not plan on running the full season. Todd Bodine leads the way of the Craftsman Truck Series regulars. Tune into Lori Munro's "Cargo Light Review" every Thursday on RaceTalkRadio to keep up with the Craftsman Truck Series and all the news from the world of truck racing.
