Bristol is the Mecca of NASCAR Racing - Making the Grade BMS Spring Race
While Daytona might be the world center of speed, there is no doubt that Bristol Motor Speedway is the Mecca of NASCAR tracks! Just once in your life you have to experience the madness that ensues when you attend a race with over 160,000 of your best friends. It isn't just the overload of the senses that is Bristol…it is the whole experience. There might not be another place that hosts a NASCAR event where the locals are friendlier. (Although Rockingham comes to mind on the list of ex tracks) Attend a race at Chicagoland Speedway and a high percentage of the population doesn't even know the NASCAR circus is in town. But head to Bristol and the whole area embraces these events. It's Bristol Baby…if you haven't been to BMS you have no idea what that really means!
Race Grade B+
The ebb and flow in this race was remarkable! Just when you thought you knew who the winner would be the plot changed yet again. About the only thing we didn't get to see was a full-blown fight in the spotter's stand when Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart's spotters had their discussion!
F for Jamie McMurray
Voted "Roush-Fenway driver most likely to be released" after another poor performance. Missing the Chase is one thing but for one of the top notched teams in the sport to fall out of the top 35 is embarrassing!
D for Gibbs Racing's Luck
All three of Joe Gibbs Racings' teams had a shot to win this one on Sunday. All three drivers suffered bad luck. Tony Stewart led the most laps and Denny Hamlin had the best car at the end. Both guys managed to grab defeat from the clutches of victory due to bad luck or bad timing.
Extra Credit for Dale Jarrett
Thank you DJ for giving us so many years of exciting racing! You had a tough act to follow with the way fans feel about your Dad and his ability on the track. But you managed to give us yet another Jarrett to hold up as a role model for young racers getting into the sport. Thanks for the memories!

B for Aric Almirola
Making your season debut at Bristol Motor Speedway has to be nerve wracking! But Aric Almirola proved to his Dale Earnhardt Incorporated team that they have the wrong driver as a part timer! Running up front all day long at one of NASCAR's toughest tracks shows that Almirola has a bright future at the Cup level!
A for Jeff Burton
It might be better to be lucky than good but it is fantastic to be lucky AND good! Jeff Burton is the most consistent driver at the Cup level. Each and every race this season Burton has been a regular in the top ten. This week Jeff Burton was in the right place at the front of the field at the right time and grabbed the win in the Food City 500 leading ONLY the final two laps!
