Jacques Le By Bye- NASCAR Odds and Ends
Jacques Le By Bye
It appears that the long awaited (By who I don't know) Jacques Villeneuve experiment will be coming to a premature end! The lack of sponsorship and now the departure of his long time manager Craig Pollock. So what began with the whimper (Of other drivers at Talladega) will end with another whimper (Or is that a large sigh of relief) after the first five races of the season! Is it just me or did Jacques look disinterested at the races he did compete in last season? Perhaps he is waiting for a new record deal to emerge. Regardless he looked overmatched at the NASCAR level but for some reason the NASCAR brass wanted him so bad they changed their long-standing rules. Even IRL champions have had to qualify their way from short tracks up to the larger ones but not Villeneuve. Now the odds makers would bet against Jacques' NASCAR career lasting much longer than ten more races at the most! Asta la bye bye Mister Villeneuve.
Top 35 Battle
Forget the fight for the Chase, the real exciting race this season might be for 35th position! Since the Toyota teams are testing much better this season (Only way to test worse would be to use three wheels or less) some of the veteran NASCAR teams will be failing to make the Top 35 this season. That means we might see one or both of the Yates Racing teams have to qualify on time every week. Anyone that has a bad race or two to start the season might dig themselves a hole they can't dig out of this year! Could you imagine the uproar if one of the big names in the sport gets caught up in the Big One at Daytona and then has an engine problem at California while the Toyota teams come out of the gate strong? Last year the fans were snickering too much to be upset about Toyota being in NASCAR's elite division. Perhaps this season the Top 35 battle will incite a riot against some of the Toyota teams that do get off to a great start…stay tuned!
360 OTC Makes More Headaches for Themselves
Did anyone notice that huge line? That is NOT the line to get into the infield at Daytona that is the line to file lawsuits against 360 OTC. Did these guys pay any of their bills? When the World Wrestling Association stepped up to the counter to grab a number they were given number 36. (Now serving number 3) Morgan McClure already has sued them and it sounds like Bill Davis Racing got stiffed too! The only ones that are getting paid are the lawyers…cause they are too smart NOT to take their money up front! It sure is a good thing that stuff is supposed to dull the pain from headaches cause they sure do get themselves in a lot of migraine-inducing situations.
